What We Do

Here, you’re family.

If you have IDD (intellectual & developmental disabilities)or love someone with IDD, then here at The Council, you are family. You will not be left behind. And you will not be forgotten. We believe every life matters and our differences should be embraced and celebrated. We commit to every Kentuckian with IDD, at every stage of life. From prenatal diagnosis to the end of life, we strive to be your advocate and friend.

Education

We empower people with IDD and their families by connecting them to all the resources they have at their disposal. We offer webinars, presentation series and training opportunities to help our families navigate life with knowledge and ease.

Advocacy

Part of life with IDD means we must advocate for equal rights and access to care. At our core, we are an advocacy organization - we believe people with IDD should be seen, heard and given equal opportunities as the neurotypical population.

Support

Knowing that others have walked the same path makes all the difference. Here at The Council, that’s what we do - we share our experiences, our resources, and above share our support. We offer one-on-one consulting or support groups that meet regularly.
