The Office for Children with Special Health Care Needs (OCSHCN), formerly the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs, provides comprehensive care to children and youth with special health care needs who:

• are KY residents

• are younger than 21

• meet medical eligibility

• meet financial eligibility

For years physicians, dentists, hospitals, and emergency rooms have quietly told patients with IDD and their families seeking care for them, to find that care elsewhere. Now there’s another way. A better way. A healthy way. There’s a place where people with IDD are treated with tenderness, compassion, understanding, and respect. There’s a place where doctors care for their patients with IDD with sensitivity; and they accept each of their patients as important and valued individuals.

Home of the Innocents

Home of the Innocents has expanded services to include children and families dealing with autism. Our goal is to not only address behaviors and skill deficits, but to also help facilitate healthy, cohesive, thriving families who have learned to accept, love, and understand the autistic child. Our extensively trained staff uses behavioral intervention, family support/counseling, parent education, sibling psycho-education, communication facilitation, and a number of other behavioral, psychodynamic and family systems techniques to work with these families. There is also specialization in Outpatient Speech Therapy and Outpatient Occupational Therapy.

Green Hill Therapy provides year-round physical and occupational therapy to children with special needs in combination with hippotherapy and aquatherapy, regardless of their ability to pay.
